Novo Coffee got its start more than a decade ago in a small warehouse-like condo in Lakewood. Since then, the company has evolved into one of the top coffee roasting operations on the Front Range. Although the beans are readily available in java shops around the Mile High City, Novo hasn’t run its own retail spot since it closed its lone shop at the Denver Art Museum in 2011. But now, Novo is headed back into the coffee retail business.

Last week, Novo opened a shop at 1600 Glenarm Place, just off of the 16th Street Mall. Novo is also working on a location at Sixth Avenue and Gilpin Street (sandwiched between Oliver’s Meat Market and Satchel’s on 6th).

A few months ago, we caught up with Jake Brodsky, who runs Novo Coffee with his father, Herb, at the company’s main facility on Larimer Street. Brodsky talked about his high school job working for a coffee cart run by his brother, and the difficulties of buying coffee in Central America. Read our Q&A with Brodsky.
