If your July 4th weekend plans involve a fishing pole and bait, why not rethink your destination?

Catch a Special Thrill (C.A.S.T.) will match disadvantaged and kids with disabilities (ages 5 to 18) with experienced anglers for a day-long fishing event on July 7 at Chatfield Reservoir. C.A.S.T. creates an adaptive environment that exposes children, who may not otherwise get the opportunity, to fishing and teaches them about natural resources. Each child is supplied with a fishing rod and reel, T-shirt, hat, tackle box, and a barbecue lunch. And even if the kids don’t reel in a big one, an award ceremony doles out commemorative plaques, which means that everyone walks away with a catch.
