Wish you hadn’t left the study of science back in your high school classroom? Check out Café Scientifique, a regular public science series held at LoDo’s Wynkoop Brewing Company. Modeled on the French Café Philosophique—a laid-back social gathering to mingle and discuss philosophy—Denver’s version was the first of its kind in the United States when it launched in 2003. The talks are informal (no PowerPoints allowed) and vary in topic, from climate change to medical breakthroughs. Denver’s original Café was so popular that a second series, Café Sci2, started in 2011 at Brooklyn’s downtown. Check for upcoming speakers at cafescicolorado.org.
