If you think that model airplanes and radio controlled aircraft are just for kids, make plans to attend the Warbirds Over the Rockies event on September 13, 14, and 15 to change your mind. Set up a lawn chair, get comfortable, and crane your neck to watch more than 150 pilots fly anything from a B-17 Bomber to a full-sized warbird.

You’ll be so busy watch the bluebird sky, you might not notice the main event: raising money to help support Mental Health America of Colorado, a nonprofit that helps fight stigma and support behavioral health programs and policy. The O’Meara family, which is featured in Pioneers 2.0, throws the event each year. It’s like a scene from Wayne’s World—with much cooler planes.

Want to go? September 13-15; Drake Field (just north of Denver), hours vary, $7-10 (kids 15 and under are free).
