Though the Mile High City slipped a spot, Denver has once again garnered a top placement in Forbes magazine’s annual list of the best places for business and careers. Last year, Denver ranked 5th, and this year is in 6th place—one spot ahead of Fort Collins, which was 3rd in last year’s rankings. (North Carolina is the only other state with two towns in the top 10.)

To rank the cities, Forbes uses a system that takes into account 12 different categories, such as education, business and living costs, and job growth. Here’s what Forbes had to say about the Mile High City: “Denver’s relatively central location makes it a natural location as a distribution hub for the American west, while also supporting a number of growing industries in technology and telecommunications.” Frankly, we’re not surprised. Denver has a growing startup culture, is home to plenty of established, larger companies, and, oh, and there’s that whole outdoor lifestyle thing that everyone seems to dig.
