Denver’s location in the lonely middle of the vast American West means sometimes we don’t get to see all the bands that coast cities like Austin, Los Angeles, and San Francisco can enjoy on a regular basis. That’s why lovers of breezy, hook-filled pop should head to the Gothic Theatre on Tuesday (August 6) to catch San Cisco.

The four-piece combo from the vast Australian West is touring in support of their EP, Awkward, and ahead of a full-length album planned for later this year. The band combines catchy rhythms with occasional electronic influences to deliver an upbeat, danceable sound. The impossibly youthful band is reminiscent of Frenchpop outfit Phoenix, only San Cisco adds female vocalist (and drummer) Scarlett Stevens to Jordi Davieson’s vocals and guitar, Nick Gardner’s bass, and Josh Biondillo’s guitar, keyborads, and vocals.

Opening for San Cisco is South of France, which splits time between Denver and Los Angeles and plays a fuzzy, retro-modern, beachy brand of pop that will be a perfect lead-in to San Cisco’s summery vibe.
