After last week’s tragic flooding, there’s no shortage of ways to help restore and rebuild the Colorado community. Here are a few ways to make a difference this week.

Write a check: Help Colorado Now has put together a list of reputable organizations and agencies that you can donate funds to, including The Salvation Army, Larimer Humane Society, and the Community Foundation Serving Greeley and Weld County.

Show up: The Red Cross is currently accepting trained volunteers outside the Denver-metro area. You can find out what positions and services are needed on their website.

Rebuild: Check out the ReSource Wars! design competition in Boulder this weekend. Bonus: The ReSource Tool Library is waiving its membership fees to access 2,000 tools (plumbing snakes, flooring nailers, and more) and giving a 10 percent discount on materials purchased to repair flood damage.

Game on: Longmont’s Oktoberfest (September 20 to 21) is still on—and will support flood relief efforts. Text “REBUILD” to 27722 to donate $10 to the Left Hand Brewing Foundation or attend the festivities, which will include a “formal salute to our rescue teams” at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Train: On September 21, CrossFit Roots in Boulder is opening on Saturday morning for any interested athlete (membership or not). Come put in a quick bit of CrossFit and leave a donation to help victims of the flood.

Beyond flood recovery, there are many other organizations looking for support this week. Some highlights:

1. The Parkinson Association of the Rockies is throwing a Western-themed party in Littleton. All proceeds from the party will help provide essential services for people with Parkinson’s.

2. Listen to the inspirational stories of the survivors of human trafficking on September 22 in Larkspur. Restore Innocence’s annual fundraising dinner offers a glimpse into the hidden world of child trafficking in Colorado and shares the inspirational stories of the girls who got out.
