Since opening in 2010, Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project has picked up about as much momentum as any of the dozens of new breweries around the state. Crooked Stave’s beers have appeared on restaurant and bar tap lists, and on liquor stores shelves all over Denver. The brewery’s former off-the-beaten-path taproom, on the outskirts of the Sunnyside neighborhood, has become a destination. On any given Saturday afternoon, the small space is packed with beer aficianados. And this week, the brewery officially moved its home to a more prominant spot in The Source, a new European-style market in the River North neighborhood.

So perhaps it’s no surprise that this year, while the beer world descends on Denver for the Great American Beer Festival, Crooked Stave decided to host its own event focused on breweries that concoct barrel-aged wild and sour beers. They’re calling it: What The Funk!? The event will include about 30 breweries and take place on October 11 from 6-10 p.m. at the Sherman Street Event Center. (Of course, just as it always is these days with GABF festivities, the event sold out. But we’ve already seen a few tickets show up on Craigslist.)

Here’s a list of breweries pouring at the event:

Cascade Brewing
Jester King Brewery
Prairie Artisan Ales
Ale Apothecary
Yazoo Brewing Company

The Bruery
Block 15 Brewing Company
AC Golden Brewing Company
