This past fall, Root Down (finally!) opened in Concourse C inside Denver International Airport—a welcome addition to the options of places to grab a bite at DIA. The airport also added Elway’s and Udi’s Cafe, all of which contributed to DIA having a record year for concession revenue. The airport generated about $295 million from concessions, which equates to about $11.22 per passenger, according to the airport.
In all, DIA welcomed 21 new or updated concession locations in 2013. “We set out on a very deliberate path to provide a creative offering of concessions to our customers,” said manager of aviation, Kim Day, in a statement. “Our revenue growth supports our additions of new local, healthy food options and Colorado retail brands in combination with the familiar, national brands that our customers expect. We have many more exciting concepts on the way, which should provide further increased revenue and passenger satisfaction.”
