Trader Joe’s announced this week it will expand its retail footprint in Colorado and add a sixth store by the end of 2015.

The upshot: The latest store will be in Colorado Springs, in a shopping center northwest of Nevada Avenue and Garden of the Gods Road. The store will be in a 12,500-square-foot retail space, which will put it on par with Trader Joe’s locations elsewhere.

The downside for Springs shoppers? No Charles Shaw wines, aka “Two-Buck Chuck.” As the Gazette explains, “Under Colorado law, grocery chains are allowed only one location for liquor sales, and that honor goes to the existing Denver store.” Bummer.

As you probably already know, the California chain has stores in Boulder, Denver, and Greenwood Village. A second is planned for Denver and another will open in Fort Collins later this year.
