As the weather turns warmer I find myself looking for an afternoon pick-me-up that’s on ice. One recent discovery: The tea sodas from Teatulia’s Tea Bar in LoHi. Part iced tea, part fruit purée, you can think of these five sippers as sweet (but not cloying) virgin cocktails.

During a recent visit, I tried the lemongrass herbal infusion (pictured). To make the drink, a barista muddles fresh limes to order and then adds blackberry-strawberry-raspberry purée, lavender flavoring, and a hot-brewed, then-chilled concentrate of Teatulia’s caffeine-free lemongrass tea. Also tempting is their best seller, a combination of green tea, peach and blackberry purée, and muddled lime and cilantro.

While everyone should check out the tea bar that’s housed in an eco-friendly automotive repair shop at least once, Teatulia’s tea sodas will soon be available in several neighborhoods. Come summer, Teatulia will have a booth at the Cherry Creek, Pearl Street, and Highland farmers’ markets.
