Next to Pi Day (3/14), May 4th is the biggest nerd celebration on the books: May the Fourth Be With You is a day for the Star Wars fan in all of us. While Disney creates a new age of Star Wars, celebrate the franchise’s roots with a weekend of events from a galaxy far, far away.

Denver Outlaws: A new hope: It’s opening day for the lacrosse team. Star Wars characters will be in attendance, and special jerseys will be auctioned off to benefit the Wounded Warriors Project. Sun, 3 p.m., Sports Authority Field at Mile High, 1701 Bryant St.,

Star (Let the Wookie Win) Wars Trivia: Brought to you by Geeks Who Drink, this quiz is for original trilogy enthusiasts. Just remember to settle your bets before you leave. You don’t want a bounty hunter after your ship. Sun, 5 p.m., Three Lions Pub, 2239 E. Colfax Ave.

Session Kitchen: Chef Scott Parker and his staff take their passion for Star Wars to the dinner table. From “C3PO’ Boy” to “Chewbaklava,” this menu will rile up taste buds all the way to Tatooine. Sun, 7 p.m., 1518 S. Pearl St.

Wings Over the Rockies: Sit in the cockpit of an X-Wing, have the chance to live out Star Wars adventures, and create new Star Wars characters. There are activities for Rebel Alliance members of all ages when Star Wars invades the hangar. Sun, 9 a.m., 7711 E. Academy Blvd.

Editor’s Note: Please forgive the Star Wars puns; we only get to do this once a year.
