Heather Dwight knows how to make a stunning first impression. The owner of Calluna Events, a wedding and event planning business, Dwight hired interior designer Liz Finkelstein of Mile High Style to create the office-space equivalent of those take-your-breath-away moments. The neutral palette appeals to men and women, while the furnishings and art reflect Dwight’s easy, elegant style.

1. Armchairs

“I’m allergic to matching,” Finkelstein says of her choice of chairs. The quirky pair was a gift from one of Dwight’s go-to vendors, Chairished Vintage.

2. Ottoman

This Ballard Designs piece shows off an unconventional juxtaposition of traditional tufting with a contemporary chevron print—and serves as a table, seat, and container for storing books and magazines.

3. Art

A colorful painting by local artist Sarah Kinn hangs above the bar cart, and for the prime real estate above the sofa, Dwight offered up her own bridal veil, which is framed in a Roma white shadow box from Italy.

4. Bar Cart

Dwight keeps hers (an eBay find) stocked with beverages, but “a bar cart isn’t just for storing booze,” Finkelstein says. “I consider it a modern-day piano top where you can display your treasures.”

5. Desk Chairs

“I love Lucite paired with wood, so I knew these ghost chairs would be the perfect match for the beetle-kill pine desks,” says Finkelstein, who found them (at One Kings Lane) in just the right shade of purple. “It was kismet.”
