Josh Schwab, chef and owner of Glazed & Confuzed Donuts, knows the magic of the root beer float. He’s taken the delicious collision of soda fizz, vanilla-caramel notes, and creamy ice cream and captured it in a doughnut. He ices the yeast-raised rounds with a fresh-brewed root beer glaze and stuffs the insides with rich vanilla cream. The result is akin to the childhood treat.

Pick one up at Schwab’s newly opened shop on Leetsdale Drive, or look for the treat at one of the many outlets—Weathervane Cafe, Kaladi Coffee Roasters, Pablo’s Coffee, Enchanted Grounds, and others—that sell Glazed & Confuzed doughnuts. Of course, there are many other varieties, including Schwab’s take on the Samoa cookie and the PuffyNutz, his homage to the Cronut.
