Get Your Art On: Cultural Happenings Around Town

With a handful of galleries opening their doors recently—and a new, can’t-miss art event coming soon—it can be tough to keep up with all the cultural experiences the Mile High City has to offer. We’re rounding up all the news you need to know this week.

Gallery Openings

Choki: On November 1, this River North Art District venue unlocked its doors to patrons wanting to view two galleries filled with a permanent exhibition of Bhutanese traditional art. The nonprofit supports artists and communities from poor or underserved developing countries. Proceeds from auctioned works will be given back to the artists’ communities for “sustainable development projects.”

Sally Centigrade Art Gallery: In September, the Larimer Square downstairs walkway added a dose of offbeat culture with the opening of this venue for “lowbrow”, pop art-inspired paintings, prints, and merchandise.

The Steve Adams Gallery: Next week, Historic Downtown Littleton will welcome its newest gallery. Adams, a post-abstract painter from New York City (his work is pictured above), is opening the contemporary art spot with his wife Heather. The inaugural exhibit (running through December 10) includes work from four artists—Adams, Stephen Lack, Raimundo Rubio, and Tisha Wood. New Event

ArtDenver: The producers of the Cherry Creek Arts Festival extend their reach with ArtDenver, a brand-new juried art show that will include 135 visual artists from around the country exhibiting in a variety of categories, from ceramics to metal works to photography. Don’t miss the opening night fashion show. Bonus: A portion of proceeds benefits year-round art education in schools around Colorado. November 14–16, Colorado Convention Center, Prices vary
