After Dark: This year, the Denver Museum of Nature & Science’s annual black tie gala coincides with opening night of its highly anticipated new exhibit, “Traveling the Silk Road.” After cocktails, dinner, and a silent auction, you and a guest can peruse the exhibit, which takes you on a tour of the ancient Asian trade route. All proceeds benefit the museum’s educational programs, which seek to inspire young minds to think, learn, and grow through science. Friday, 6:30 p.m. to 1 a.m.; Denver Museum of Nature & Science, 2001 Colorado Blvd.

St. Jude Give Thanks. Walk.: Join millions of families across the country in St. Jude’s annual “Give Thanks. Walk” event. Denver will be one of more than 65 cities walking to support the children’s research hospital. After the stroll through Coors Field, families will be treated to food, prizes, entertainment, and activities for the kids. The walk is free, but donations will go towards St. Jude. Saturday, 8 a.m.; Coors Field, 2001 Blake St.

Tribute to the Power of Hope Gala: Believe it or not, Colorado is 48th in the nation in per capita spending for behavioral health services. The good people at Mental Health America of Colorado are doing their part to change that statistic with this weekend’s “Tribute to the Power of Hope,” a gala featuring cocktails, a silent auction, and dinner at the Sheraton Denver Downtown. The night will honor Marguerite Salazar, Colorado’s insurance commissioner, and Colorado College for their leadership in the field of mental health. Saturday, 5:30; Sheraton Denver Downtown, 1550 Court Pl.
