Longtime 5280 favorite Nathaniel Rateliff has announced the upcoming release of a new EP and subsequent tour.

The indefatigable and multifaceted singer-songwriter—our Top of the Town choice for 2014’s best musical act—will release the six-song Closer on January 27, and he’ll be touring the Midwest through January with another Front Range standby, Gregory Alan Isakov.

Rateliff also announced that his band, the Night Sweats, an R&B-focused side project, will team up in 2015 with producer Richard Swift—who’s previously worked with the Shins and the Black Keys, among others—on an album, with yet another tour to follow that.

Soundcloud is streaming the title track from Closer here, so give it a listen and check back with us, or visit nathanielrateliff.com for updates on Rateliff’s albums and local gigs.
