This morning at the History Colorado Museum, Vietnam veterans rebuilt history, piece-by-piece. As part of The 1968 Exhibit, vets were invited to install a Vietnam-era Huey helicopter. The model helicopter was assembled by actual parts that transported troops into battle and rescued injured soldiers during the war. Many of the vets who worked to assemble the installation had first-hand experience with a Huey during the war, either working on it as a mechanic or flying into battle. The time-capsule displays throughout the exhibit offer glimpses into this tumultuous time in American history, including the effects of the Vietnam War on families, the assassinations of public figures, space exploits, and pop culture.
