Whether you’re eating too many chocolates, bemoaning your relationship status, or playing footsy with a loved one over a splurge-worthy lobster dinner, Valentine’s Day has a tendency to fuel self-indulgence. This week, take the time to treat someone other than yourself or your sweetie and attend one of these Denver charity events:

Valentine’s Cookie-Decorating Soiree: February might be all about love, but is the heart getting enough attention? This month, Cherry Creek North partners with the American Heart Association to help bring awareness to heart disease, which is the number one killer of women in America. Decorate delicious cookies for all your Valentines, on the house, at the Ross Cherry Creek branch of the Denver Public Library. Monday, 11 a.m. to noon; 305 Milwaukee St.

Alice 105.9 Cares for Kids Radiothon: While romantic love abounds on Valentine’s Day, certain British traditions tell of ‘Jack’ Valentine, who distributed sweets and gifts to the children of Norfolk each February 14. Channel your inner Jack and treat the patients and families of Children’s Hospital Colorado by tuning in to Alice 105.9 Cares for Kids radiothon. The station will take a break from its usual programming to air hopeful and courageous stories directly from the atrium of the hospital. Lend an ear or donate $15 to become a Miracle Maker. Thursday and Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Alice 105.9 FM, and alice1059.com

Have A Honky Tonk Valentines: Join Barnraiser, Western Daughters Butcher Shoppe, and Wolfe Narratives at Converge Denver for the first annual Have A Honky Tonk Valentines. The event will offer live music, dancing, light (and sustainable) eats, and an auction of locally made goods from Winter Session, Topo Designs, Huckleberry Roasters, Filson and others. All proceeds go to Re:Vision, a non-profit organization that works to increase access to food in low-income neighborhoods. Friday, 8 to 11 p.m.; 3327 Brighton Blvd.

Le Cours de L’Amour: Get your heart (and your feet) racing this Saturday and join Feat on the Street for a 5k/10k run. While love’s journey can be grueling, Le Cours de L’Amour (the Course of Love) has a guaranteed happy ending, as all proceeds go to local nonprofit Heart & Hand, which is dedicated to providing a supportive family environment for at-risk youth in Denver. Don your Valentine’s best and head to City Park for a heart-warming workout. Saturday, 9 a.m.; City Park
