Let your mom know how much you love her by one-upping your typical last-minute card this Mother’s Day, and splurging on one of these awesome gift boxes. All of these boxes are packed with items from Colorado-based companies, with most offering local products and yearlong subscription services, letting you send a piece of home to your mom long past the Hallmark holiday. And if your mom lives in the Denver metro area? Well, we’ve got the perfect gift for her too.
Idea Chic’s recent spring box
For the Crafter: Idea Chic
Glendale-based stationary company Idea Chic makes the perfect gifts for any Etsy-addicted, crafty mom (the store’s website even has a whole Mother’s Day section). Idea Chic makes greetings cards, postcards, wall prints, puzzles, stationary, custom wedding and baby announcements, packaging and gift wrap, and even clocks. In lieu of buying your mom a card and calling it a day, buy her a subscription to Idea Chic’s Parcel Post instead. The subscription service is $30 a season, or $108 annually (each box retails at no less than $30), and is stocked with new products, popular items, and exclusives. The next seasonal delivery will ship in mid-June.
For the wellness obsessed: Hempbox
This is Colorado, so we’d be remiss if we didn’t include Hempbox in our roundup. Perfect for any mom who’s been teasing you about legalization, but is still open to the well-known wellness benefits of hemp. These boxes—which ship annually and cost $19.99 a box (or $50.97 for three months, $89.94 for six)—are filled with health, beauty, and nutritional hemp products (read: no weed, which comes from a different part of the marijuana plant). From luxurious soaps to wholesome hemp seeds, Hempbox’s items highlight a less talked about, and perhaps more important, aspect of Colorado’s burgeoning marijuana industry.
MM Locals’ glorious Centennial State spread
If your mom resides in the Denver area and has a passion for good eats, consider a subscription to either MM Local or the Locavore Delivery’s meat subscription program. The former lets you order jars of Colorado peaches, tomatoes, pears, pickled beets, live fermented vegetables, and lots of other local fruits and vegetables, to be collected in the fall. Locavore Delivery will take care of the protein, supplying heritage Berkshire pork, grass fed bison and beef, eggs, chicken, and even wild Alaskan Salmon (obviously not from Colorado, but caught by a Boulderite).
