On August 4, a star-studded lineup of Boulder chefs will take to the kitchen, cooking up what is sure to be one of the year’s best dinners. Dave Query (Big Red F Group), Eric Skokan (Black Cat Farm-Table-Bistro and Bramble & Hare), Kelly Whitaker (Basta and Cart-Driver), John Platt (Riffs Urban Fare), Kyle Mendenhall, (The Kitchen), and Alex Krill (Jax Fish House) are teaming up to create a feast of small plates paired with live performances by Opera on Tap Colorado and short food film clips from the award-winning Perennial Plate.

The goal of this one-of-a-kind evening? To benefit the upcoming Flatirons Food Film Festival, set for Oct 19–25 at the Muenzinger Auditorium on the CU-Boulder campus.

Films, Chefs, and Glorious Song will take place at Boulder’s Agora at Riverside. The event is designed to raise funds to bring in two of the stars for the October festival: James Beard Award-winning chef, Andy Ricker (of Pok Pok restaurants and guest star on Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations and Parts Unknown) and filmmaker Helen De Michel (co-creator of the documentary on the Berkeley School, Lunch Love Community).

At the festival on October 23, Ricker will introduce the film Farang (Thai for white foreigner) about his life as a “curator of another culture’s culinary glories.” After the screening, he will host an in-depth Q&A. Several of Helen De Michel’s films will be featured as a part of the festival as she facilitates a community gathering to discuss school food reform. Chef Ann Cooper, the director of Food Services for Boulder Valley School District will bookend the gathering with keynote and closing addresses.
