Carlos Gonzalez Celebrity Bowling: Colorado Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez does a lot more than catch pop-ups and bat homeruns. The Venezuelan two-time All-Star—who donates $1,000 to charity for every homerun he hits, and $500 for every RBI—spends his time off the field being just as philanthropic. Gonzalez organizes popular charity events like this one, where, for the price of a ticket ($150), attendees can mingle with local and national celebs while sipping on cocktails. Proceeds from the event benefit Denver Kids Inc. and the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Denver. Purchase a ticket here. Monday, 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.; Lucky Strike Bowling, 500 16th St.
Mt. Evans Outdoor Lab Trail Reroute: Volunteer your time this week by helping preserve and protect a vital part of a Colorado outdoor education program. The Mount Evans Outdoor Education Laboratory School (formerly known as Dodge Ranch) is located on a beautiful and historic tract of land near Evergreen. The scenic spot functions as an educational facility for thousands of visiting sixth graders from local schools each year. During their weeklong stay at the Lab, kids study the history of the ranch as well as the ecology, wildlife, and geology of the surrounding area. One section of hiking trails at the Lab is in desperate need of renovation, and by volunteering to help with the reroute, you can help ensure that Colorado kids are able to spend safe, educational time learning about the mountains around them. Sign up here. Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Mt. Evans Outdoor Lab School, 201 Evans Ranch Rd., Evergreen
Freddy Jones Band Benefit Concert: Catch some blues-rock tunes from Chicago-based Freddy Jones Band, and contribute to a good cause, too. Proceeds from tickets ($32 for general admission, and $64 for VIP access) benefit Golden-based nonprofit emBOLDen Alliances‘ Nepal Earthquake Response. The organization supplies immediate, intermediate, and long-term help to Nepal following the devastating earthquake that killed 9,000 and injured 23,000 when it hit the country in April of this year. Purchase tickets here. Thursday, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
7th Annual Fiesta Cookout: Volunteer your time at Servicios de la Raza’s 7th Annual Fiesta Cookout. The turnout, as always, will be huge: Approximately 10,000 people from around Denver are expected to stop by. Servicios, which serves Denver’s Latino community by providing critical programs like career counseling, mental health services, and bilingual assistance to victims of domestic abuse, will give out thousands of free meals at the cookout. Depending on the four-hour shift, volunteers can help staff set-up tents and vendors, distribute burgers and hot dogs to cookout attendees, or help with clean-up. In addition to directly serving the community, of course, volunteers will also have the chance to check out the classic car show set up nearby. Saturday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; 44th Ave. and Tejon St.
