The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Walk: Washington Park will be illuminated this Thursday night as hundreds gather to celebrate and commemorate those who have been touched by cancer. At the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s annual Light the Night Walk, teams of families, co-workers, and friends will carry lanterns to represent an individual life, white for survivors, red for supporters, and gold in remembrance. The evening will include music and family activities, and will culminate with a luminous twilight walk around the park. EatUp!: Many underage girls fall victim to sex-trafficking each year, and it’s happening in our city. You can make a difference at this culinary event benefitting Extended Hands of Hope, a local nonprofit that strives to rehabilitate these young women. The evening will kick off with a cocktail hour, during which you can sip on a signature drink created by Julia Strombotne of Little Ollie’s. Then, settle down for a five-course meal prepared by Denver chefs, including Dustin Brafford of Opus Cherry Creek and Russell Stippuch of The Squeaky Bean. After satisfying your tastebuds, hear from Extended Hands of Hope about their efforts, participate in the live auction, and listen to a performance from the University of Denver’s jazz quartet. Del Frisco’s Golf Experience: Dust off your clubs and practice your swing, because the 6th annual Del Frisco’s Golf Experience is this weekend. The event begins with a silent auction and five-course meal provided by Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse, which includes lobster, ribeye, and a butternut squash truffle mac ‘n’ cheese. The next morning, hit the course for a full day of friendly competition. A cocktail cart with carefully crafted libations from Del Frisco’s will serve players throughout the day, and an awards ceremony will take place at the end. Spots are filling up, so call to register as an individual or team of four. You don’t have to participate in the golf tournament to attend the dinner, which is available for $100 a plate. Proceeds benefit the Rocky Mountain Children’s Health Foundation, and organization that works to enhance the quality of life for pediatric patients, and Food for Thought, which strives to ensure underprivileged children will receive meals at school. Wings 5k Race for Healing: One in five adults are plagued by trauma from childhood sexual abuse. Hundreds of supporters, survivors, and community allies will come together this Saturday to celebrate life, love, and the resilience of the human spirit at this annual 5k. The race will benefit the Wings Foundation, a local nonprofit that provides therapy, education, and advocacy for survivors of CSA and their supporters.
