It’s State Pride Thursday

Illegal Pete’s puts on the kind of 303 Day celebration Colorado can be proud of.

By |

Technically Colorado Day is August 1, the date our state formally joined the Union back in 1876. But the Centennial State is so badass—seriously, U.S. News and World Report just named Denver the best place to live in the entire country—that we celebrate our state on a second day, too: March 3, or 303 Day. Like the area code (the good one).

And nobody knows how to throw a party like Illegal Pete’s. Here’s a sampling of the many ways in which the 15-year-old local chain (and recording label, by the way—Greater Than Collective) plans to get down.

Show up at any of Pete’s eight locations wearing a piece of Colorado-related clothing and you’ll get free coffee with your breakfast, or chips and queso with your lunch/dinner, New Belgium beers for $3.03, or—and this is the mind-blowing part—pours of Colorado’s premier bourbon, Laws Whiskey House, for $3.03.

Plus, you’ll find free live music and comedy shows at each of the locations. Highlights include performances by Rootbeer and Mermentau at the South Broadway location, OptycNerd in LoDo, and Inna Di Red on Pearl Street in Boulder.

With the mercury creeping toward 70 today… well, we’ll see you on the patio.
