Don’t Miss Trick Dog’s Pop-Up

Williams & Graham goes on vacation while this San Francisco hot spot stages a takeover.

Better to share than to shut down. That’s what Williams & Graham owner Sean Kenyon decided when planning his staff’s annual vacation. So, for four nights, Thursday, May 5 to Sunday, May 8, San Francisco’s beloved Trick Dog will take over the LoHi Bar.

“[Williams & Graham] is leaving us kitchen staff and a door guy,” says Morgan Schick, the creative director of the Bon Vivants and the lead barman for the Denver takeover. Otherwise, it’ll be “myself and two bartenders.” The space will remain the same, but the cocktails, the rules, the music, and the door policy (no reservations) will be all Trick Dog.

“You don’t get to go to all the bars you want to in the world,” explains Schick. ”This is a small way of bringing our experience to you.”

Trick Dog, which opened in the Mission District in 2013, is known for changing its menus every six months. Schick and crew will bring the current “Top Secret” menu to Denver. Consider it an X-Files style-theme with cocktails such as Area 51, the Big Foot, the JFK Conspiracy. (Trick Dog, which has been nominated for a James Beard for Outstanding Bar Program and was named one of the World’s 50 Best Bars, is clearly having fun with the theme.)

Fall in love with a cocktail? It’ll remain on Trick Dog’s menu until July (or make it at home).
