Finally, A Fest for Young Yogis

Ivivva's Coast to Coast Festival makes a stop in Denver.

By |

A young yogi’s Om can get lost at one of the many yoga festivals popping up this summer around Colorado. That won’t happen at the Coast to Coast Festival, taking place June 29 at Cheesman Park. Brought to Denver as part of a larger tour by Ivivva—the little sister activeware brand of Canada-based Lululemon—the festival encourages the entire family to celebrate health, community, and big dreams.

Like the stores located in Cherry Creek and Park Meadows malls, the inaugural Coast to Coast Fest caters to girls, six to 14 years old, but brothers are also welcome. Before the yoga sesh kicks off, your kids can get fierce with warrior body paint and hair braiding courtesy of Aveda. Then, everyone gears up with a set of Sound Off wireless headphones, which allows you to completely tune into the yoga instructor’s voice without any outside distractions, for silent yoga taught by three local teachers. And after the last pose, cue up the dance party and grab dinner from the visiting food trucks.

The Coast to Coast bash is the latest event in a string of no-cost offerings from Ivivva—which stocks technical athletic ware for all sports from tennis to skiing to yoga. Girls can pop by the nearly two-month-old Cherry Creek shop for free Saturday morning yoga and sign up for a Dreams and Goals session, which pair groups of girls with strong female role models to discuss the future. Recently, a group of nearly 200 local girls met with Boulder’s American Ninja Warrior star, Meagan Martin. For Dru Libby, Ivivva’s Cherry Creek store manager, it’s connections like these that boost the athletic pursuits of young girls. “Girls need to be empowered and we’re doing everything we can to elevate them,” Libby says. “Everything we do is done through the lens of being active.”

Go: The Coast to Coast Festival takes place June 29 at 5:30 p.m.; Cheesman Park, 1599 E. 8th Ave.
