Food Lover’s Book Club is a bimonthly discussion of a cookbook or food-related book led by 5280’s food editor Amanda M. Faison. The free gathering takes place at the Ross-Cherry Creek Library.

“Not just for toast.” That’s what Kathy Lee of Modern Gingham Preserves has to say about jam. And indeed, the condiment has come along way from Smuckers raspberry. You could even say jam is having a moment: it’s sweet and savory (ever tasted tomato-vanilla?), it’s stirred into cocktails, it’s pumped up with spirits; it’s served with cheese.

With Colorado’s harvest in full swing, now is the time to learn a thing or two about preserves. Mastering the art of canning will allow you to bottle summer and carry sunshine-drenched tastes forward. Lee and Faison will discuss the glory of jam and how to get better at making it.

Check out the Blue Chair Jam Cookbook by Rachel Saunders—cook from its pages, and come ready to discuss.

Bonus: Samples.
