At this collaborative, conceptual fashion show, local designers Cyrus and Keenan Ferguson will showcase their original pieces. Denver musician Jason Corder, better known by his stage name Off the Sky, will spin moody electroacoustic tracks as models show off their minimalist looks, which have been crafted from hand-painted fabrics made by artists at RedLine’s Reach Studio, a space where individuals experiencing homelessness can express themselves creatively. Dillon Open Regatta, August 5 to August 7

This sailboat race at 9,000 feet promises breathtaking views of the Front Range and plenty of action. Watch sailing contestants from the shore or hop in a spectator boat to glimpse Lil Irene, Blue Streaker, and more than 20 other speedy crafts up close as they carve their paths around the chilly reservoir. After you’ve gotten your adrenaline fix, stick around for dinner by Moe’s Original Barbeque on Saturday or sip on drinks from Breckenridge Distillery and McNab Ridge Winery during the Sunday after-party. Taste of Ethiopia, August 6

The Centennial State’s second-largest immigrant population will share the flavors of their homeland during this authentic feast. Savor a meal of injera (Ethiopian flat bread), spicy beef stew, and tiqel gomen (cabbage, potatoes and garlic) prepared by volunteer cooks with Ethiopian heritage while enjoying a folk dance performance by the Ethiopian Youth Dancers of Colorado. Congressman Mike Coffman will speak during the festival, which doubles as a naturalization ceremony for 15 Ethiopian immigrants. Danny and the Deep Blue Sea, August 6 to August 14

Theater connoisseurs can reflect on the redemptive power of building relationships during this emotional performance. In this intimate three-act play by Pulitzer Prize winner John Patrick Shanley, two young people meet at a bar in the Bronx, go home with each other, and share their violent stories to overcome the darkness in their pasts. After the show, attendees can stick around for a talk-back session to ask the crew and two-person cast about the artistic choices they made. Lest We Forget: The Mission, August 6 to January 31

To honor the Americans who lost their lives during World War II, retired fighter pilot Fredric Arnold created this moving exhibit. As a memorial, the 94-year-old carved 12 life-size bronze sculptures resembling the fallen men in his former squadron, all of which will be on display. While you admire the large-scale works, be sure to read plaques about the soldiers’ lives and the sacrifices they made.
