Starting to plan your 2017 vacation calendar? We suggest visiting somewhere different. That shouldn’t be difficult with Denver International Airport regularly adding new destinations to its roster of 1,500 average daily flights. We took a look at what routes are on deck—and have some ideas about what you should do when you get there.

? Monterrey, Mexico

Beginning next month, Volaris—an ultra-low-cost airline that operates between the U.S., Mexico, and Central America—will begin nonstop service from DIA to Monterrey, with flights available on Tuesdays and Thursdays. (Aeromexico is offering seasonal nonstop flights on Saturdays and Sundays, from December 17 to January 15.) Monterrey, Mexico’s third-largest city, isn’t known as a tourist destination (hey, Cancun!), so half the fun of visiting will be discovering a place your friends may have never heard of. The other half will be hiking in nearby Chipinque National Park, visiting the area’s many museums, and cooling off in the Cola de Caballo waterfalls.

? Belize City, Belize

Beach bums will want to keep an eye out for Southwest sales and clear their spring calendars: The airline announced it will begin seasonal nonstop service on Saturdays, from March 11 through April 22, 2017. The Central American country is known for its beaches and scuba diving (see the Great Blue Hole), lack of commercialization (expect to meet lots of locals), and Belikin beer.

? Munich, Germany

In May, Lufthansa began offering direct flights to Munich five days a week; starting March 26, 2017, they’ll up that to daily trips on bigger, 255-seat Airbus A330-300s. Munich is, of course, best known for its Oktoberfest celebrations (September 16 to October 3 next year), but you won’t want to miss out on a stroll through Englischer Garten and wandering around the central Marienplatz. If you’re worried about spending all your money at the beer garden, check out Lonely Planet’s guide to the top 10 free things to do in the Bavarian city.

? Reykjavik, Iceland

OK, this one’s not new—but now you have more options for getting to the Nordic country (pictured, above). Starting in June, Icelandair will increase its current daily schedule to nine flights per week (two per day on Tuesdays and Fridays). According to a DIA press release, this marks “the first time in Denver aviation history that a carrier has operated more than one daily flight to the same transatlantic destination.” So what’s that mean for you? More opportunities to get yourself to the Blue Lagoon, view the Northern Lights, and figure out how to pronounce Skjalfandafljot (a glacier river that’s home to a number of jaw-dropping waterfalls).
