Between the “native” stickers adorning every Subaru and the preponderance of Colorado flag-emblazoned clothing, we’re certainly not suffering from a shortage of Centennial State pride. But if you were to pick just one day to really go all out, Tuesday, August 1—Colorado’s 141st birthday—would be it. To recognize the occasion, local businesses are offering discounts for Coloradans across the state. We rounded up a handful of Colorado Day deals so you can celebrate but keep a bit of extra money in your pocket (for spending on microbrews, a bike tune-up, and a bowl of green chile, of course).
Food & Drink
Steuben’s Uptown and Arvada locations know no birthday is complete without something sweet: Steubie Snacks (deep-fried, powdered-sugar-dusted braised pork shoulder bites) are $5 all day on Tuesday, and single-scoop cones of Rocky Mountain Road ice cream will be just $2. Pair either with the Alpenglow, an all-Colorado cocktail made with Woody Creek vodka, Leopold Bros. Rocky Mountain Peach Liqueur, Peach Street Distillers Amaro, lemon juice, grapefruit juice, mint, and soda. Both venues open at 11 a.m.

Stranahan’s Distillery—the first distillery to open in the Centennial State following Prohibition—is honoring Colorado’s 141st birthday with free tours between 2 and 7 p.m. (on the hour) on August 1. All tours are currently fully booked, but the distillery welcomes walk-ins to take the places of any no-shows. Regardless, you can still stop by the lounge for a cocktail (Stranahan’s Barrel 5,000 will be available for sale on this day only), live music, and food truck eats. Because truly, nothing says Colorado like sipping whiskey in the middle of a workday.

Out & About
Get your paddles ready: Show up to Uptown hot spot Ace Eat Serve on Tuesday wearing gear adorned with a Colorado flag, and you’ll be rewarded with an hour of free ping-pong. The restaurant opens at 4 p.m.
Learn more about Colorado’s past during a daylong celebration at History Colorado. All events—from a West African drumming performance to blacksmith demonstrations—are free. Even better: The seven History Colorado Community Museums across the state are also offering free admission.

Humans shouldn’t have all the fun! Visit any Chuck & Don’s Colorado pet store on August 1, and five percent of your purchase will be donated to the Colorado Mountain Club.
