High Design For All

Furniture Row’s high-end spinoff showroom surprises design-lovers with sophisticated offerings that defy the brand’s reputation.

You’ve been obsessing over that fabulous lamp by your favorite Big Design Brand, but you can’t figure out how to buy it without a trade pro. Sound familiar? Well, a new design destination called The Showroom at Furniture Row (opening in August), just might be the solution. The concept, envisioned by Denver-based Furniture Row owner Barney Visser, is a serious departure from the brand’s value-forward strip malls: At the Showroom, homeowners can shop directly from lines like Baker, Henredon, and Christopher Guy (which makes its Colorado debut through the store). There’s good news for designers, too: The Showroom team helps streamline some of those logistical nightmares (think shipping and consolidating multiple orders) that tend to cramp creativity.

The space itself, sprawling across 170,000 square feet, is modeled after the design world’s top furniture fairs. Visitors can wander through 30 individual galleries, all styled after the brands they represent. “Not everyone gets to travel to High Point Market,” buyer Amy Foster says, “so we wanted to bring that creative market experience to the client.” Go browse the mix of “mountain modern” products for yourself—and be prepared to be tempted by more than just that lamp.
