Pizzeria Locale (Denver’s fast-casual version of the Boulder concept), helmed by co-owner Lachlan Mackinnon-Patterson, operations manager Chris Donato, and culinary director Jordan Wallace, are delivering Denverites a lot more than pizza this week. The fruits of two Locale partnerships will be available to hungry, thirsty locals, and if you’re one who likes beer (duh) and pizza (double duh), then treats await.

Today only, both Pizzeria Locale locations are celebrating a collaboration pizza—meatballs and Burrata—with chef Steven Redzikowski (Acorn, Oak at Fourteenth, Brider) by donating 50% of the proceeds from all sales of the pie to the American Lung Association (ALA). (Redzikowski’s father passed away from lung cancer just about a year ago, and the charity’s work to promote screening, asthma management for children, and clean air initiatives is dear to him.) You can enjoy the scrumptious collab pizza all month long, but only today will your meal do so much for others—mention the fundraiser at the register so half of what you spend goes to the ALA. Even better: Redzikowski and Mackinnon-Patterson will be at the Broadway location from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight, so head over and thank them for their delicious work!

Get to the beer already, you say? Sure enough. Mark your calendars for Thursday, October 5: At 7 p.m., Epic Brewing Company kicks off its Fifth Annual 50 Firkin Fiasco. Anthony “Ant” Baez, Epic’s barrel manager, has once again created 50 unique—and outrageous—flavored beers in 10-gallon firkins. As Baez puts it: “A firkin is a vessel that you put beer in that carbonates itself…and you serve the beer straight from the firkin.” Recent successes have included a stout enhanced with two pounds of mini marshmallows and a gummy bear IPA, but this year, Pizzeria Locale is one of several collaborators creating new and exciting firkins with Epic beer as the base. Locale’s specialty—a crisp, mild 4.8% ABV IPA flavored with basil and sun-dried tomato—should taste just right with the pizzas Wallace will be slinging at the Fiasco: four cheese; roasted cauliflower with a drizzle of balsamic; and red pie with sausage and broccolini. You can taste all 50 firkin flavors, and those pizzas, from 7 until midnight, so do get on that.
