Most of us have endured the quintessential—and, dare we say, boring—Valentine’s Day dinner. This year, skip the overpriced fixed menu for a hands-on cocktail class instead.

Jon Feuersanger, master mixologist and beverage director at North Cap Hill’s Coperta, will be leading a “Cocktails for Two” class on Saturday, February 10. From 2:30 – 3:30 p.m., couples (and, ahem, Galentine’s Day celebrators) will learn the secrets behind Feuersanger’s seductive, spirited conctions—including two cocktails created exclusively for the class.

“The spirits we picked for this [class] are pretty approachable,” says Feuersanger, who is also behind the fanciful libations at Uptown’s Beast & Bottle. “I think people have a preconceived notion that for some reason vodka is boring, but I think vodka is great. I like to look at it as a blank canvas and focus on the texture of it more than anything else.”

He’ll demonstrate how to enhance the vodka in your home bar with the “I Matcha Your Love,” a silky drink flavored with powdered matcha (a supposed libido-booster), lychee liqueur, and honey. Feuersanger says this is one of his favorite drinks on the menu because of how well the herbaceous floral notes of the matcha play off of the other ingredients.

Attendees will also learn the tricks behind Feursanger’s “Karma Chameleon,” a vibrant, cachaça-based cocktail that changes color from purple to hot pink thanks to a little chemistry magic.

If the top-notch drinks alone weren’t enough of a reason to buy tickets to this class, attendees will also enjoy Southern Italian bites such as Coperta’s house charcuterie and polenta fritters. Sips, snacks, and cocktail wisdom from a pro? Sounds like a recipe for love.

Don’t wait to reserve your spots — there are only 12 seats available for this event.

Tickets are $45 and can be purchased at copertadenver.com. Future cocktail classes will be held on May 9, Sept. 29, and Dec. 1.
