5280 MAGAZINE: JOBS

Editorial Internship Program

5280 offers two editorial internships programs—one with its print magazine and the other with its online publication—in the summer, fall, and spring. Both internships are very hands-on and offer lots of staff interaction.

Print Internship:
Primary responsibilities include fact-checking stories, writing shorter stories for the front-of-the-book and dining sections, contributing research to larger stories and features, and entering descriptions for the calendar and dining listings sections.

Web Internship:
Web intern responsibilities are twofold. Interns fact-check 5280.com's daily, weekly, and monthly e-newsletters as well as the site's web exclusive content and dining coverage. Additionally, web interns research and write event listings and may be involved in researching and writing for online stories.

Requirements:
Although a journalism or English degree (or working towards a degree) is preferred, it's not required. Published material or writing samples are required (college newspaper is okay). A commitment of 12 to 32 hours a week, depending on the internship, is preferred.
