When in Boulder from late May through June, keep an eye out for Malcolm McDowell. Most cinephiles will recognize the British actor from his role in A Clockwork Orange, although McDowell has starred in numerous films and television series over the years (IMDb). And now he’s slated to appear in the indie sci-fi psychological thriller Mind’s Eye, a movie that portrays the implosion of space and time from the perspective of a high school violinist—all set in Boulder (Variety).

Producer Meryem Ersoz says the film will be almost entirely shot in and around the People’s Republic—from open-space areas to a local high school (Daily Camera). Ersoz, a Boulderite since 1986, says she’ll avoid playing into the stereotypes, including Birkenstocks and wheatgrass. She believes Boulder has a sort of “welcoming and threatening” feel. “There is a Gothic presence that hangs over the city, and I want to really milk that,” she adds. “We want Boulder to be like a character in the film.”
