Although many still flock to the Mediterranean for the restaurant’s popular tapas, the strong list of entrées and daily specials shouldn’t be overlooked. Of late, the Med’s talented kitchen has been stepping up the daily specials, and chef Kelly Kingsford’s cooking across the menu has never been better. Of note: The fazzoletti, or handmade handkerchief pasta, that envelops tender braised Colorado lamb, San Marzano tomatoes, asparagus and peas. Equally satisfying are the saffron-tinged paellas, which—if you ask nicely—can be served at lunch.

Each month, Kingsford reworks the specials so that they reflect a different Mediterranean region. February highlights the traditional ingredients of Croatia, Slovenia, and Montenegro. Look for dishes such as braised baby octopus with crni rizot (a Croatian black risotto), seared greens, golden tomatoes, and a red pepper vinaigrette; or a wood-fired pizza with spicy cevapcici sausage, roasted peppers, grilled onions, marinated feta, garlic purée, and fresh arugula. Stop by for a visit, and you’ll reap the rewards.
