If you missed our live chat with Mary Nguyen, chef-owner of Olive & Finch (one our Best New Restaurants), Parallel Seventeen, and Street Kitchen Asian Bistro, you can click on the archive here. During our conversation, Nguyen addressed the topic of local dining trends, the changing face of 17th Avenue, and go-to dishes at her respective restaurants. But our chat ended before she could answer the last question, so we’ve included the reader’s query and Nguyen’s written answer below.

“Jeff from Downtown: Where do you like to eat on your night off?

Mary Nguyen: There are so many amazing places in Denver to eat…so when I have a night off, I try to explore all the new restaurants in town. I just had a GREAT meal at the Curtis Club and am planning on going to the Plimoth for my next “splurge”…..so like you, I’m going through the 5280 Best New Restaurant’s list too….but I think you probably want to know my local haunts….Lao Wang Noodle House for their amazing soup dumplings—and the quaintness of the husband and wife team who operate it, Marco’s Coal Fired Pizza when I’m in the mood for a great pizza, Sushi Den for the most consistent and flavorful sushi in Denver, and Pho Le, for a traditional bowl of pho when I’m on the west side of Denver.
