Dogs running on underwater treadmills and eating yogurt from a minibar? You could be forgiven for thinking it sounds like the premise of a Funny or Die video. But indoor doggie pools are popping up around the metro area—six and counting in the past five years. They don’t just capitalize on dogs’ passion for splashing, though. Pooches suffering from obesity or arthritis can benefit from water therapy just as humans do. At rehab centers, licensed therapists train dogs one-on-one, while some daycare complexes focus on recreation with resort treatment. The newly opened Hobnob location in the Denver Tech Center has a 22-foot heated pool and the aforementioned minibar and even offers naptime. Nonswimmers can don flotation vests or skip the deep end altogether in favor of a miniature water park. Now if only we could find a daycare like this for our kids.
