Three Colorado communities are listed among the nation’s least obese, according to a survey from Gallup that was released this month.

Boulder rates number one in the country when it comes to the percentage of its adult population that’s not obese, while the metro areas of Fort Collins-Loveland and Denver-Aurora check in at numbers three and seven, respectively. Gallup has consistently ranked Boulder among the top communities when it comes to waist-minding residents. In fact, the city is the only one in the nation that has an adult obesity rate below 15 percent.

According to Gallup, 12.9 percent of Boulder’s adults are obese. Roughly 18 percent of adult residents in Fort Collins-Loveland are obese and about 19 percent of Denver-Aurora adults are considered obese. On the other end of the scale is the Huntington-Ashland area in Kentucky, Ohio, and West Virginia, which showed nearly 40 percent of its adults are obese.
