103.5 The Fox Cocktails & Comedy: Every giggle, chortle and chuckle helps a Denver metro child in need at this comedy show, where all ticket sales benefit the Lewis and Floorwax for Kids Foundation. This no-overhead charity was founded by two of Denver’s longtime morning radio hosts, Rick Lewis and Michael Floorwax, and raises money to help struggling families pay for things like medical bills, clothing, and school supplies. Bonus: Grab a bite at Lucy Restaurant before the show and 20 percent of your bill will also be donated.Wednesday, 7 p.m.; Comedy Works, 5345 Landmark Place, Greenwood Village

The Illusions of Depression: The negative social perception of depression is what keeps 80 percent of those affected from seeking help. Project Helping’s fine-dining fundraiser facilitates vital community support through education, understanding, inspiring speakers, and clever comedy—even magic—to help dissolve cultural barriers standing in the way of treatment. Thursday, 6 to 9 p.m.; Wellshire Event Center, 3333 S. Colorado Blvd.

Design After Dark | CUT: Now in its 11th year, this wintry fundraiser and celebration of local creative talent challenges Coloradan architects, artists, and designers to create a three-dimensional object interpreting the definitions of “CUT.” Each will be sold in a silent auction held throughout the evening and benefiting the Denver Art Museum. Tip: Get your General Admission tickets online to avoid sellout or an extra $20 at the door. Vernissage Preview Party tickets are still available and young professionals (ages 21 to 30) get tickets almost half off. Friday, 7 p.m.; Bindery on Blake, 2901 Blake St.

Denver Zoo Free Day: Lions, tigers, and bears—yes. But also, red pandas, servals, and okapi. Run wild and free (literally) at one of the city’s most popular attractions and get to know these fascinating animals. Get really friendly and stop by the interactive Wild Encounters show at noon where handling fuzzy (and scaly!) creatures is standard practice. Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; 2300 Steele St.
