The Roaring Fork Valley’s gorgeous views of Mt. Sopris might assuage sore eyes, but that’s nothing compared to the relief its waters afford aching muscles. In July, Iron Mountain Hot Springs opened near Glenwood Springs, next to the Colorado River on land once occupied by the Glenwood Health Spa. (That facility was bulldozed in 1995 after nearly a century of service and several name changes.) New co-owner Steve Beckley tapped two underground streams to construct 16 hot springs pools, where temps range from 98 to 108 degrees in the summer. (Two more pools are filled from water tanks.) To add to the bucolic atmosphere, Beckley fashioned the maintenance and concessions buildings out of reclaimed redwood. But Iron Mountain isn’t all rustic: Beckley installed a high-tech system that extracts warmth from the water to heat the buildings and walkways between pools so that come winter, your stress isn’t the only thing that melts away. $15 for a two-hour soak from 8 to 10 p.m., $25 for an all-day pass
