The holidays are for giving, but they’re even more cheerful when you’re giving back. Here are five organizations that are currently in need of your generosity.

As winter closes in, the Denver Rescue Mission is increasingly in need of cold weather items like blankets, socks, gloves, and coats to ensure the safety of those without a home. Donations can be made at:

The Boys and Girls Club of Metro Denver will be collecting toys until Christmas Eve for the Care 4 Colorado Toy Drive. New and unwrapped presents, such as art supplies, sports equipment, gift cards, clothes, and electronics are recommended, but check out the Care 4 Colorado Holiday Wish List for specific gifts. All items can be dropped off at participating King Soopers, the CBS4 Denver News Station, or the main office of the Denver Boys and Girls Club ( 2017 W. 9th Ave.). While the toy drive runs through Christmas Eve, it is recommended that items be donated as soon as possible in order for them to be delivered by Christmas.

Toys for Tots is struggling to meet the 100,000 requests for toys it has received from local organizations this year, and has warned that some orders may not be filled. Monetary donations can be made on the Toys for Tots website, and toy donations can be dropped off at the public warehouse (3410 Brighton Blvd.) Tuesday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. All donations need to be made by December 22 in order for items to be dispersed on time.

The Denver Children’s Home is accepting new, unwrapped toys for babies through teens until Christmas Eve in order to provide Christmas presents for 500 families in need. Presents may be delivered to the Family Resource Center (1536 Albion St.).

All the families serviced by SafeHouse Denver, a shelter for victims of domestic violence, will receive presents this Christmas, but the soon-to-be 40-year-old organization is in need of monetary donations for its emergency shelter. Online donations can be made here or by calling 303-302-6122.
