When one thinks of dining out in Lone Tree, what often comes to mind are the many chain restaurants surrounding Park Meadows. So we’re sure foodie residents will be excited by this news: The team behind Denver’s beloved La Loma is bringing a new concept to the ‘hood. Sierra is slated to open October 30 in RidgeGate, a mixed-use development just off I-25.

The menu, which culinary director Gerry Castro is still developing, will include some La Loma favorites (three cheers for green chile!) but will primarily showcase new items, such as a rotisserie chicken, pizzettas, and seafood-focused dishes. All of Sierra’s breads—tortillas, pizza dough, etc.—will be baked on site.

“There are a lot of similarities, but it is a different concept,” says Deanna Price, marketing manager for Brinkerhoff Hospitality (William and Mark Brinkerhoff own La Loma). “It’s more of an American kitchen with some Southwestern influences.”

The venue itself is a standout, Price says, with floor-to-ceiling glass and a modern-rustic interplay. Boss Architecture is overseeing the design; the firm also remodeled La Loma’s downtown digs. Sierra will seat more than 300 people, split evenly between indoor and outdoor dining space. With a courtyard and a patio (fire pit included), diners will be scrambling to snag seats outside whenever the weather cooperates.

As for why the La Loma crew decided to look outside of Denver for their next venture? “We feel like downtown is pretty saturated as far as the restaurant scene,” Price says. “Lone Tree is growing so fast, and we want to be a part of that and offer something different than what’s down there right now. We’re family-owned and -operated and that creates a different feel.”

Sierra will open with lunch and dinner; brunch may eventually be added.

Coming Soon(ish): Two more La Loma locations are on their way, one in Castle Rock (expected to open within the next two years), followed by another across the street from the Downtown Aquarium.
