What Liberal Media?
Here in Colorado, however, it's a very different story. On Sunday, Bush added the Denver Post to an already overwhelming list of Centennial State endorsements, that also includes the Rocky Mountain News, Longmont's Daily Times-Call, The Pueblo Chieftain, the Loveland Daily Reporter-Herald, and the Daily Record in Canon City.
According to Editor & Publisher, only three Colorado dailies -- Boulder's Daily Camera, the Fort Collins Coloradoan, and the tiny Durango Herald -- have endorsed Kerry.
Bush's media supremacy in Colorado is even pronounced when you tally the combined circulations of the papers that have endorsed each candidate. By that measure, Bush trounces Kerry 671,586-70,455.
There's an argument to be made that, in this era of media saturation, newspaper endorsements carry only a fraction of the weight they once did. Still, there can be little doubt that Kerry would have preferred to enter the Colorado campaign's home stretch with the support of at least one of Denver's dailies.
