CU's Dick Tharp Said Ready to Resign

The woes continue in the examination of whether sex and alchohol were a part of football recruiting practices at the University of Colorado's athletic department. Athletic Director Dick Tharp is expected to resign as early as Monday. Denver Judge Jeff Bayless yesterday ordered an investigation into who leaked the grand jury report on University expenditures to the Rocky Mountain News. Even though university officials were not found to have knowledge of the objectionable recruiting practices, the University was found to be "lax" in its oversight. Regent-elect Michael Carrigan said Tharp should resign. If Tharp has to go, why not head coach Gary Barnett? Is winning football games so much more important than taking responsibility for failures on your watch?
