Santa's Helpers

Bah humbug, anyone? Not everyone digs this happy holiday stuff, but David Sedaris' hysterically cynical Santaland Diaries play, currently showing at the Bug Theatre, will surely strike the funnybone of even the most small-hearted Grinch. Denver actor Gary Culig returns for his sixth year in the role of David Sedaris recounting his experience working as "Crumpet," a disgruntled holiday elf at Macy's department store. The play is witty, snarky, and wonderfully relatable to anyone who has ever worked a crappy seasonal retail job with quirky and often annoying customers and coworkers. The play runs through December 26, and I hear that, at least for Culig, this is his last year performing the role, so plan an evening to see him while you still can. The Bug is also looking for volunteers to help take tickets and usher the crowds in during the performances. It's an easy trade for anyone who'd like to see the play for free.
