Tiny Bubbles

Did you know that you can determine the quality of a glass of champagne just by taking a close look at the bubbles? The tinier, the better, because a higher number of tiny bubbles will better deliver the flavor of the champagne to your tastebuds. Not convinced? Try it out tonight. Head out Solera Restaurant from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for their weekly Wine Tasting Wednesdays, where for $10 you can taste eight different varieties of champagne for your New Year's enjoyment. Or head downtown to Tryst Lounge, where their weekly "Sensual Wednesdays" are a combo of happy hour and ladies night. Women get $1 glasses of house champagne, house wine, or Van Gogh vodka drinks all night. (The regular happy hour from 5-8 p.m. offers $3 Van Gogh cocktails, house champagne and wine for everybody.) This way you can impress your friends with your snooty -- I mean, discerning -- champagne taste when it comes time to ring in the new year.
