New Year's Eve: Part IV There are so many options for New Year's Eve that a lot of us are just planning to wing it and see what we're in the mood for come Friday night. And plenty of people plan to simply party-hop from place to place -- and of course it's key to hit some of the less-expensive spots if you're doing multiple appearances. Some of the cool-kid hopping options: Option A: Want to hang with the hipsters, mods and scooter kids? Head to Lipgloss at La Rumba to catch Interpol's Carlos D spinning the freshest indie and retro tracks. Tickets are $20. Option B: The Hi-Dive is throwing "All Tomorrow's Parties," a tribute - with three bands and two DJs - to the way-cooler-than-you legends, the Velvet Underground. Tix are only $6 for this one, so it's a must stop for in-the-know itineraries. Option C: Oddly enough, the Adam's Mark Hotel has a killer lineup of indie rock in the Grand Ballroom scheduled for NYE. Not the coolest room in town (or the cheapest) but check out the bands: The Album Leaf, These Arms are Snakes, Engine Down, Pinback, Kill Fix and Atlas. Tix, $38. Option D: Hit Bender's Tavern to catch The Railbenders throwing down some seriously stylin' alt-country. This club used to the the Capitol Hill goth hangout, Onyx, but has been revamped into a small live music venue and neighborhood bar. Tickets, $20. Keep it Cheap: There is no cover on Friday at the Funky Buddha, and DJ Nutmeg will surely keep the energy level high; at the Red Room, $5 gets you in after 10 p.m. (free if you come in earlier) for DJ 6d8 playing requests all night, plus drink specials, free champagne and free breakfast burritos after midnight.
