DeGette Named House Deputy Minority Whip

Today's Denver Post reports in its print edition that Rep. Diana DeGette has been named House Deputy Minority Whip. That's a pretty big promotion for the Denver congresswoman, but I can't find the news anywhere online. If you find a link, please post it in the comments. The article (on page 2A) of the paper says:
DeGette will help rally the party's rank and file on important votes, participate in leadership meetings and join the party's Steering and Policy Committee, which helps Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. and Whip Steny Hoyer, D-Md., craft party policy and make committee assignments."
Update: DeGette's office has posted a press release.

A story about Degette on page 2A? Now that's irnoic. To exlain things a bit, 2A is a common abbreviation in certain circles for the Second Amendment of the u.S. Constitution. Degette has semed to show an especially damning illiteracy concerning said amendment as she's never (to my knowledge) turned down an oppurtunity to vote for a law that completely disregards it. I'm not a fan of her other views, but for me her wilingness to disrespect my Right to Arms is enough to not feel her promotion is deserved or that it bodes well for the Republic.
