Best Bets for the week of March 16-23

We tell you what to do, where to be, and why for each week of the year. Edwin McCain — March 16
This Greenville, South Carolina singer/songwriter is best known for hits such as "I'll Be" and "Solitude," but his newest release Scream and Whisper displays a beautiful blend of his characteristic Southern soul and acoustic storytelling. And McCain is something to hear live—the depth and range of his voice shines in concert. Wednesday 8 p.m.; $27; Soiled Dove, 1949 Market St., 303-299-0100. St. Patrick's Day in Denver — March 17
Erin go braugh! Here are the highlights for the Mile-High City's Irish festivities. Don't forget to wear your green.
  • Fadó Irish Pub and Restaurant: The folks at Fadó don't mess around on St. Patrick's Day. The party begins at 5 a.m.—KHOW will do its live morning broadcast from the pub—and continues all day long. Live music and entertainment begin at 12:30 p.m. and the beer will be flowing like water. 1735 19th St., 303-297-0066.
  • The Celtic Tavern and Delaney's: The celebration starts at 11 a.m. with a St. Patrick's Day lunch, including fish 'n' chips, sandwiches, and corned beef and hash. Live music, pipers, and dancers begin around 4 p.m. 1801 Blake St., 303-308-1795.
Carrot Top — March 18
Irreverent, loud, and okay, maybe crazy, Carrot Top brings his prop-heavy comedy to the historic Paramount Theatre this Friday night. A semi-celebrity from his AT&T commercials, Scott "Carrot Top" Thompson headlines in Vegas for 15 weeks a year and performs nearly 100 additional shows across the country. Friday, 8 p.m. The Paramount Theatre, 1621 Glenarm Place. $29, $39. For tickets, call 303-830-TIXS. Chopper's Challenge & Casino Night — March 23
Practice your poker face this week and then head over to the Pepsi Center for the star-studded Chopper's Challenge & Casino Night, a fund-raiser named in honor of beloved Nuggets trainer Chopper Travaglini. This year's theme is a high-rolling casino night including Texas Hold 'Em, a spectacular sports memorabilia auction, and more. All proceeds benefit Kroenke Sports Charities. Wednesday, 5:30 p.m. The Pepsi Center, 1000 Chopper Circle. Ticket prices vary. For more information or to make your reservation, please call 303-405-6128. Also visit www.nuggets.com.
